Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977 in Miami, Florida. American electro-house musician as well as record producer, D.J. Music executive. He is the third son of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His father was a former wrestler, who also founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two siblings and a sister Kana who is frequently known as Grace by her middle name Grace and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He was raised in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with an 1995 B.A. in badminton. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts, he attended UC Santa Barbara. He received two degrees in sociology and one in feminist studies. In the college years, he made do-it-yourself records & ran underground shows from his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue after the apartment was renamed The Pickle Patch. He was active in student activism , and he founded an Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. In his 20s, Dim Mak had established his own record label which he named Dim Mak in honor of his hero from childhood Bruce Lee. In March 2010 the singer dropped I'm in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of The Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. The song made it to No. 29 on the U.K. singles chart in its first week. The track later made it into the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, placing in the top 5 on both charts. It was included in MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May 2010 interview with HitQuarters Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter confirmed that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on the single. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the highest-grossing dance artist in North America from tours. He has worked with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He's known for remixes of artists like Kid Cudi
