Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a nurse, and
Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover. She is
English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting at thirteen. Already, she
was performing in Shakespearean plays during summer theatre camp. Rachel
graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater. After her
debut on the episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) She was a
co-star in the Canadian TV series Slings and Arrows (2003) which was a
comedy-drama that focused on the challenges and struggles of an Shakespearean
theater group. She received the Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her
breakthrough role as Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004)
instantly brought her to the top of the list of Hollywood's hottest young
actresses. After that film she was cast as the opposite of Ryan Gosling in The
Notebook (2004). It was a hit at the box office, and quickly became the leading
romantic drama for the new generation of filmgoers. McAdams and Gosling began
to fall in love while filming and continued to be together until the middle of
2007. McAdams then showed her range on screen in the hilarious comedy Wedding
Crashers (2005), the action thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday drama The
Family Stone (2005).McAdams then took on the world of independent films through
Married Life (2007), which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and also
featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. McAdams was also
seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008), respectively. She also
played in the film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy
Ritchie's international smash Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams portrayed the
plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's
materialistic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to
romantic drama with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams appears in
Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) together with Ben Affleck and Noomi
Rapacace in Brian De Palma's thriller Passion (2012).
