Bruce Willis

Actor and musician Bruce Willis is well known for playing wisecracking or hard-edged characters, typically in spectacular action films. Together, they have appeared in movies that have grossed more than $2.5 billion USD. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein in West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) They were living at an United States military base. His family moved to the United States shortly after the birth of his son. He was raised in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother worked as a bank clerk and his father was an electrician and worked in factories. Willis was an avid drama fan at the age of high school. While working at an New York City café, his name was "discovered". He then appeared in a few off-Broadway productions. As a bartender one night and he was noticed by a casting director who liked his character and was looking for a bartender for a small film role. After numerous auditions, Willis had a brief appearance in films, usually uncredited, before landing the role of private eye "David Addison" alongside the gorgeous Cybill Shepherd in the smash romantic comedy television show Moonlighting (1985). His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is viewed by some as an attempt to play the character of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in which Willis' character single-handedly battled the ruthless international thieves within the Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his character in the role of McClane. The plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to bring back an unjust South American general. The film's impressive performance at the box office prompted the sequel, Die Hard with revenge (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a shrewd Harlem shopkeeper who was accidentally forced to assist McClane during a terror attack on a hot New York City day.
