Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a theatre actor writer, director and writer, as is her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. She has two brothers: Dana Wood, who is a musician and Ira David Wood IV, who has also performed. Evan and her brothers often performed at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh. Her father started the theater and serves as its director of operations. After a lengthy audition process when she was just five years old, she old when she was able to screen-test against Kirsten Dunst.
